Would You Like Straighter Teeth and an Improved Smile?

Crooked or misaligned teeth are an extremely common problem, and today there are a variety of solutions available to improve the appearance of your teeth. If you have been thinking about straightening your teeth, then invisible braces like Invisalign could be a good option. Unlike conventional metal braces, which are obvious to everyone, the transparent retainers are barely noticeable. A further advantage of using Invisalign is that the braces are removable and can be taken out for eating and drinking. Despite these benefits, Invisalign treatment is not suitable for everyone. Here are three situations where pursuing Invisalign treatment would not be the right solution.
Patients with severe teeth problems
Invisalign is perfect for treating most alignment problems which patients encounter. If you suffer from an overbite or an underbite or if you have crowded teeth or gapped teeth, then Invisalign can be used successfully. Where it may not be such as successful treatment is in cases that need the jaw to be moved a low, such as if there is a particularly large overbite or other severe alignment issues. If that is your situation, your dentist will probably suggest an alternative treatment.
Patients who are too young
Invisalign is a great treatment for patients with full-grown teeth, but for children whose teeth have not yet stopped growing, then Invisalign is not suitable. Adults and older teenagers who want to avoid the embarrassment that comes with wearing metal braces can certainly embrace Invisalign treatment because their teeth have already matured, but for anyone younger, a different solution must be found.
Patients who can't maintain the treatment
Most patients love the convenience of Invisalign. They appreciate the benefits that come with the ability to remove the clear retainers for cleaning their teeth and for consuming food. However, while it's fine to remove the retainers for short periods of time, they need to be in the patient's mouth for at least twenty-two hours each day if the treatment is going to achieve the desired results. If you want to keep removing the retainer during the day, then you will need to investigate a different method of treatment. An inability to maintain the treatment for the prescribed period of time will always render Invisalign treatment ineffective.
If you are not sure whether Invisalign is the right solution for your dental problems, then talk to your dentist. They will be able to determine whether or not you are a suitable candidate for treatment.
